15 months #alcfree
Over the last fifteen months without alcohol, I’ve stumbled upon what feels like a secret cheat code to life. Without it, I’ve discovered clarity, energy, and opportunities I didn’t know I was missing. And now that my life is so busy due to running, what has become, a national business and relocating to QLD, I have no idea where I could even fit alcohol back in!
Don't get me wrong, the journey hasn't been without its challenges. At times, I’ve wondered with how others perceive my choice not to drink—wondering if it affects my social life, professional relationships, or the invites I receive to events. Yet, these moments of self-consciousness are vastly outweighed by the positives.
Living without alcohol has been like lifting a weight off my life. I’ve found joy in simple moments, deeper connections with others, and a profound sense of peace and self-awareness. It’s as if all the pieces of my life fit together more seamlessly now.
Sharing this isn't about boasting or claiming I’ve found the one true path. It’s about opening up a conversation on the transformative impact sobriety can have. For those who’ve felt tethered by their relationship with alcohol, consider this a nudge to explore what life might look like on the other side.
One more thing I will mention is, I just don't think about drinking at all. I just have zero interest in it. Which is so strange given I used to consume alcohol at least once a week for about 20 years. Isn't that crazy? Most people are very respectful now-days when you say you don't drink. So thank you to those people that respect the decision and support those that have chosen sobriety.
So, here’s to the secret cheat code I’ve found, sobriety. It’s been a journey of rediscovery, challenges, and unexpected joys. And it’s a journey I believe is worth sharing, if only to inspire others to see what life has to offer when we choose to live it fully, and consciously.
